A Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN) is a document written by a licensed healthcare provider stating that a product or service is medically required for a specific health condition.
It enables customers to use their HSA/FSA funds for products that aren’t automatically eligible, such as supplements, fitness gear, or wellness items.
Through Sika Health, the LMN process is fully digital—customers complete a short eligibility survey and intake form online.
A licensed provider reviews the case and, if appropriate, issues an LMN—usually within 12 business hours.
Customers can then use the LMN for HSA/FSA reimbursement by submitting it along with their purchase receipt.
